Wild elephant damages around 100 houses in West Bengal's Siliguri

An wild elephant, which strayed into the residential area of Siliguri in West Bengal, damaged around 100 houses on Tuesday. No one has been injured in the incident. The locals looked helpless to scare away the rampaging elephant as the animal continued its go about knocking down compounds and sheds. A wild elephant stands still after it was tranquilized in Siliguri, India. The mammal had wandered from the Baikunthapur forest Wednesday, crossed roads and a small river outside the town and ran amok trampling parking cars and motorbikes before being tranquilized, according to local media.
