Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai to start goat farming

Former Prime Minister and UCPN (Maoist) leader Baburam Bhattarai is all set to start commercial goat keeping at Khoplang in Gorkha, his home district.Dr Baburam Bhattarai wanted to spend his retired life after politics in his home district of Gorkha rearing goats. He said his village lacks fertile land suitable for agriculture and that's why he would take up goat rearing that has a great chance of flourishing in his village. He has formed a cooperative called the Deepesh Raju Memorial Agriculture Cooperative in partnership with the locals of Belbas, Khoplang-4 to finance the goat keeping venture. Bhattarai is the advisor and his daughter Manushi the chairperson of the cooperative. The cooperative has taken 38 ropanis land on the hillside at Khoplang on lease for goat rearing. Grass has been sown on this patch of land. Suggesting the new generation people to switch to entrepreneurship by giving up the mentality of doing a job, the former Finance Minister said he has plans to start goat rearing in partnership with his friends in his village. Inaugurating the cooperative, Bhattarai said commercial livestock farming would not only improve the economic condition of the family but of the country as a whole.
