The CPN (UML) has said that it would not be diverted from its commitment of promulgating the new constitution through the Constituent Assembly (CA).After the standing committee meeting held at CA Building, New Baneshwor today, Party Secretary Pradeep Gyawali demanded immediate action against those involved in vandalism in CA and the attack on leaders responsible for compensation, determining that the vandalism and attack was pre-planned.Stating that that attack on party chairman KP Sharma Oli, senior leader Jhalanath Khanal, vice-chairperson Bidya Devi Bhandari, and lawmaker Rishikesh Tiwari, by lawmakers of the UCPN (Maoist) and Madhes-based political parties was carried out in a planned manner, he said the party takes the incident as undemocratic, uncivilized, inhuman and anarchic. The meeting determined that the party would foil the plan of the UCPN (Maoist) of making the CA unsuccessful as it has conspired to make the CA a failure by squandering time, he said. The standing committee drew a conclusion that the party would adopt all measures to promulgate the new constitution even through voting process and to bring the UCPN (Maoist) back on the right track.Gyawali clarified that today’s CA meeting would forward the proposal for the formation of the questionnaire committee.
