Laxman Lal Karna is Vice Chair of Sabdahana Party and a member of the Constitutional Dispute Resolution Sub-committee's Task Force (formed to resolve disputed issues in the draft constitution) was interviewed by IDEA's Khushee Tharu, seven days before the 27 May 2012 deadline for approving Nepal's new constitution. Laxman Lal Karna says, The key issue, dating back to the early 1990s, is to guarantee citizenship to all Nepalese. Also, political representation should be on the basis of population size, which is basic to all human rights. The biggest priority at the moment is federalism and inclusion on the basis of ethnic population size. We are fighting against rampant discrimination all over Nepal. We want an autonomous Madhesh province: a north-south demarcation of the province which would divide Madhesh into multiple provinces is unacceptable.
