Dr. Baburam Bhattarai during his visit in Gorkha Earthquake zone

Dr. Baburam Bhattarai was the 35th Prime Minister of Nepal from August 2011 to March 2013. As a way out of the political deadlock since the dissolution of the first Nepalese Constituent Assembly in May 2012, he was then replaced by Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi to head an interim government that should hold elections by 21 June 2013. He is a senior Standing Committee Member and vice chairperson of Unified Communist Party of Nepal.
The death toll from the deadly earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25, also known as Gorkha quake, has climbed to 7,365, according to the latest update by the Home Ministry, while the number of injured has reached 14,355. The highest number of the dead has been recorded in the Sindhupalchowk district which has soared to 2,838 while the toll has steadily rose to 1,202 in Kathmandu .
