Nepal's long waited new Constitution draft likely in 15 days

After nearly a decade of political deadlock, Nepal has finally taken steps toward landmark constitutional reform. The four main political parties reached a 16-point agreement on June 8 that charts the next steps of forming an eight-province federal system of governance. The Constituent Assembly (CA) will enforce the new statute through process at the soonest, claimed Kp Oli.

political parties are close to striking a deal on constitution drafting, deferring some of the contentious issues to be decided later. Top four leaders are currently meeting a the Prime Minister's offcial residence in Baluwatar to give final shape to the agreement. Party leaders say they will signing an agreement in this regard. The draft will be sent to the CA Chair Subash Nembang who will then forward it to the CA Consensus Committee led by Baburam Bhattarai. Then the draft will be handed over to the committee led by Krishna Prasad Sitaula. It will then be circulated for collection of public opinion, modified if needed and then promulgated by the president.
