Clash in Birjung, 1 dead and 23 injured

The Parsa District Administration Office clamped a curfew in Birgunj Sub-Metropoitan City, to be effective from 4 pm this afternoon. The order shall be effective till the next notice, according to the DAO. Chief District Officer Keshav Raj Ghimire said the DAO took the decision after clashes between protesters and police personnel did not end in the town despite police intervention. Earlier, nearly a dozen protesters were injured in the clashes this afternoon. Cadres of various Madhes-based parties are demonstrating against the proposed demarcation of federal set-up in the new constitution, in the Tarai districts for more than two weeks.
