Madesh parties leader protest inside Legislature-Parliament

Posted by Anup Baral November 22, 2014 :
Nepali Congress Acting President Ram Chandra Poudel has called on the agitating Madhes-centric parties and ruling parties to resolve the crisis plaguing the country. During a meeting of the Legislature-Parliament, Poudel underlined the increasing anarchic activities in Tarai-Madhes, death of two persons in Saptari today, the attack on ambulance, acute shortage of medicines taking toll on the sick in hospital and black market trading of fuel products while appealing for unity among all parties to end the Tarai problem. The NC leader accused the government of not taking necessary steps in allowing the passages of the two amendment proposals tabled by his party in order to address the crisis. He further slammed the government of not being serious towards the fact that the country is reeling under the pressure of the crisis. He urged the ruling side to comply with the past agreements and added that the government did not mount diplomatic initiative to end the current problem. “To encircle the Nepal Rastra Bank Governor and to neglect the formation of the Reconstruction Authority and other subjects agreed upon by second largest party CPN-UML during the Nepali Congress led government is unfortunate for the country,” Poudel said.

The NC Vice-President further stressed the need on part of all in mountainous, hilly and Tarai regions to unite for national unity and integrity while pressing the agitating parties to support the passage of amendment proposal. The parliamentary meeting was postponed until 11:00 am on Nov 26 without entering the scheduled program after lawmakers from various Madhes-centric parties picketed the rostrum. Speaker Onsari Gharti was scheduled to read a letter received from the Office of Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers. RSS
