Nepal team to go China Thursday to sign fuel trade deal

The Nepal government and northern neighbor China are going to sign in a trade deal to import petroleum products with the northern neighbour. A high level delegation of the Nepal government is leaving for China on Friday to sign in the deal. It is said that the Nepal Oli Corporation (NOC) and the Petro China Company, Nepali and Chinese petroleum monopoly respectively will sign in the deal. Though the officials of the Nepal government had been parroting to import petroleum products from China, no deal was signed yet to import the petroleum products even though the China had already agreed to provide essential fuel to Nepal. It is said that seven-member delegation under the leadership of Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Supply Shambhu Ghimire is leaving for Chian to sign in the deal. The delegation includes officials of the NOC, ministries of foreign affairs, law and finance, claims the source close to the NOC. Recent visit of the Minister for Commerce and Supply Ganesh Man Pun to China has paved the way to sign in the deal. Nepal Oil Corporation and Petro China had already signed in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the fuel supply to Nepal. With the MoU, China had provided 1.3 million liters of petrol to Nepal as grant assistance.
