Tarai protests have no any essence, argues PM Kp Oli

Prime Minister KP Oli said, "protests ongoing in the Tarai districts did not have any significance." Addressing a mass meeting of his party CPN-UML in Attariya of Kailali district today, Oli said the Constitution already ensured rights of Madhesis and hence, the protests were unnecessary. Oli met quake survivors in Barpak to inquire about their situation on Thursday. In his visit, PM Oli laid the foundation stone of a drinking water and sanitation project for the quake survivors here. He said that the government would provide Rs 200,000 to the quake survivors as grant and a loan of Rs 1.5 million against collateral. PM also expressed commitment to the that an ‘Earthquake Monument’ would soon be constructed and the road stretching up to Barpak would be blacktopped within two years. On the occasion, PM Oli also said that Barpak would be reconstructed as per the plan to develop it as an integrated settlement. The project is going to be constructed at a budget of Rs 30.5 million with the support of the Care Nepal.
