Former King Gyanendra Saha known as Majesty King Gyanendra at that time of his ruling has held the title of the King twice: first between 1950 and 1951 as a child when King Tribhuvan was forced into exile in India with the rest of the royal family; and from 2001 to 2008, following the unfortunate Nepalese royal massacre. His late Majesty King Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah and Her late Royal Highness Crown Princess Indra Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah.King Birendra is massacred. Following the killings, Prince Gyanendra is crowned as the King of Nepal. When King Gyanendra inherited the country, it was plagued with unstable governments and heightened Maoist's civil war. In July, Maoist rebels escalate violence and killings. Prime Minister Koirala quits for his failure to control the civil war. Sher Bahadur Deuba is appointed as Prime Minister for the second time. In November , Deuba declares state of Emergency. Deuba Government is dissolved and fresh elections are called. Deuba continues to head interim government. He also renews Emergency. King Gyanendra repeatedly urges Deuba government to hold elections and hold peace talks with the Maoists. Deuba fails.
