The Legislature-Parliament on Saturday night endorsed the Constitution Amendment Bill with amendments with an overwhelming majority. With the endorsement of the bill, first changes have been made on the constitution that was promulgated four months ago. Out of 468 lawmakers present in the meeting, 461 voted in favor of the bill, seven lawmakers voted against and no lawmaker remained neutral, announced Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar. The erstwhile government had registered the bill to amend Articles 42, 84 and 246 of the new constitution in a bid to address the demands of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF). The House passed the bill amidst sloganeering from lawmakers UDMF. Earlier, the meeting of major parties held at Singha Durbar agreed on the amendment proposal registered by Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Minendra Rijal on the bill.
