Beware of adulterated sweets this Raksha Bandhan. In a great Hindu festival today Raksha Bandhan festival being observed across the country.

Young priests wait for Hindu devotees to offer sacred thread 'Janai' on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan and Janai Purnima at Pashupati Temple in Kathmandu. Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival that celebrates the love and duty between brothers and sisters; the festival is also popularly used to celebrate any brother-sister relationship between men and women who are relatives or biologically unrelated. Celebration of Raksha Bandhan symbolizes a brother's promise to protect his sister, for which sisters tie Rakhis (a wristband made up of strings) to their hand and pray for their long life and well being. To observe the festival, siblings who live away from each other make it a point to visit their brothers or sisters, irrespective of the distance, to tie Rakhi to their brothers.
